Tripura thrash Odisha in Cooch Behar Trophy

Losing run continued for Odisha in the Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 Cricket Tournament as they lost to Tripura by four wickets on the fourth and last day of their Elite Group-C match at Police Training Academy Ground in Agartala today. This was the fourth successive defeat for Odisha, who earlier lost to Tamil Nadu, Baroda and Jammu & Kashmir.

Put into bat by Tripura captain Amit Ali, Odisha folded up for 100 as only four batsmen could reach double digits. The home team conceded a first-innings lead of 60 runs as Tripura made 160. In the second innings, Odisha compiled a respectable total of 238, thanks to a half-century by Sameer Sahu and 46 by Aditya Rout.

Chasing a challenging target of 179 for victory, Tripura rode on an unbeaten knock of 87 by Sankar Paul to romp home, while losing six wickets in the process. Hapless Odisha will next meet Saurashtra at Veer Surendra Sai Stadium in Sambalpur from December 27 to 30.
